Ian’s Way

Ian's once a day log and antichud tracker

Another sleeping-in morning, which cost me my workout today because I didn’t have time after work. I had an interval run scheduled, but I’ll just do it tomorrow.

I worked with Natalie all day today, helping put up some cameras. It was hard work, but it was cool. I met many dogs today and somehow did not get any photos. The only photo I took today was of the sunlight coming through the window after I slept in. I’m trying to see the sunrise while I’m on my way to the gym or out on a mid-run.

I guess I should look for some areas to improve. If I could get better about waking up early, I think that would help a lot with school and being consistent with the gym. I need to get more comfortable with just working from the second I put my feet on the ground to when it’s time to sleep again. I feel that requires a lot more energy than I currently have normally.

    • Gym: Nope, slept in and had to much Calculus to do.
    • Bowls: One so far, probably two total.
    • Beers: No beers
    • Debt: Absolutely
    • SOTD: Glory Box – Portishead

Slept in again and missed the gym, but I still went after work. That’s fine for normal people, but I just started school back, so I need to take advantage of literally every waking hour I can while keeping my sleep up to par.

Work went fine. I met a beefy cat that felt like he had a wider neck than me. The hell with smelling the roses; I’m petting the cats, dude.

I felt healthy today, though I still feel like I could have more overall energy. I had a moment of, “Dang, I am weak,” at the gym. There’s a saying I heard recently that has helped keep me motivated each day since I read it.

“When nothing else seems to help, I go and look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not that blow that did it, but all that had gone before.” – Jacob Ris

That is where Cameron Hanes says he got his catchphrase, “Keep Hammering,” and I can’t think of a cooler one.

I guess, to wrap up today, I didn’t do too much. Shot my bow when I got home, made some good dinner after and was gonna do some Calculus, butttt… I didn’t. Tomorrow is tomorrow Ian’s problem. Screw that guy.

    • Gym: Yeah, but in the afternoon because I slept in. (Upper body again because screw anything else) No run
    • Bowls: Half of one, probably another after this
    • Beers: No beers
    • Debt: Yep.

First daily post. I’m guessing I will make one before bed every night. Below I would like to add some important trackers that I think will be interesting.

Anyways, about today. I slept in, which meant I didn’t make it to the gym, but I still had enough time to have a slow-ish morning. I went straight to work and had a long meeting before I could really get to it.

I ended up driving a ton today, which allowed me to finish Endure by Cameron Hanes. Hearing the author’s voice read their own work makes listening to it a lot more meaningful.

When I got off work, I slipped over to the gym to do my dreaded first “long” run of my training plan. I finished the run after stopping to snap a photo of some deer grazing along my path, then went inside to lift.

Bow season is coming up, and I am dedicated to getting a nice whitetail buck on our dinner plates this year. Because of that, I’ve been doing bow-draw-specific training and trying to shoot my bow every day from now until the end of the season.

    • Gym: Yes, but in the afternoon because I slept in. (3.75 run and “Bow Draw” specific work outs.)
    • Bowls: One so far, probably another after this
    • Beers: Barely a quarter of a Foster’s I said I wouldn’t waste
    • Debt: Yeah.
